Upgrade .02 · HVAC

A smaller system.
A cooler house.

A sealed house needs less cooling than a leaky one. We size a high-efficiency heat pump or AC to the house you have now, seal the ducts and keep it running.

What we do

  • Heat pumps and AC
  • Duct sealing
  • Smart thermostats
  • Maintenance

Seal the house first. Then the new system can be smaller.

HVAC is upgrade two for a reason. Size a new system before the attic is fixed and you pay for capacity you won't need later. We seal and insulate first, then size the equipment to the house that's left.

The problem

Oversized units, leaky ducts.

Many older systems were sized for a leaky house. They cycle on and off, cool unevenly and lose cold air into the attic through leaky ducts.

What we do

Size it right, then seal it.

We size the new heat pump or AC to the sealed house, seal the ductwork and set up a smart thermostat you can run from your phone.

Why it comes second

Buy the system the house needs now.

An oversized unit costs more up front and short-cycles all summer. We size for the house after the fixes, not before.

Not sure your AC is the problem?

We check the system, the ducts and the attic together, then tell you which one to fix first.

We check the system before we quote one.

Pressures, airflow, duct leaks and the thermostat, checked on site. If your current unit has years left, we will say so and service it instead.

Age, repair history and how well the house holds temperature all matter. We check the unit, the ducts and the attic on one visit. If a repair or tune-up is the better call, we will tell you.

Often, yes. If the unit itself is in good shape, sealing the ducts may be all it needs, and we will tell you so. If it is near the end of its life, we show you why before we quote a new one.

It depends on the house, the equipment you have now and how you heat in winter. A heat pump cools and heats with one system; an AC pairs with a furnace. We walk you through both after the inspection.

Yes for the power-purchase option: you pay for the power the system delivers, not the equipment. We show every option side by side with your current bill.
